We are excited to present this challenge to you for 2018. We have put together some simple, graphic quilt blocks for you to interpret into your own modern quilt. Please join us each month to assemble your block. Instructions will be provided on our blog.

This Block of the Month challenge is open to everyone. It is written for your enjoyment. Follow along every month or make them at any pace that works for you. A new tutorial will be posted at the beginning of each month.

Play along with us and make sure you share your blocks so we can see your progress! On Instagram use #bouldermqgbom18 and tag us @bouldermqg  On Facebook share your blocks on the Boulder Modern Quilt Guild page. We may even share your blocks on our blog, Facebook, or Instagram!

All of our 2018 blocks are simple enough for a novice to join in on the challenge. Yet, have a clean and modern look for even the most experienced quilter to enjoy making.

A lot of the blocks are based on a 9-patch or 16-patch layout. They use squares, rectangles, half-square triangles, quarter-square triangles, and flying geese. We will provide tutorials for each block, as well as tutorials for paired HST, QST, single FG, and no-waste method of making 4 FG. Measurements are given for 12 inch finished blocks. You can download a coloring sheet to plan out your colors.

Have fun and we can’t wait to see what everyone makes!
