June Upcoming Meeting and Announcements

Jun 2, 2018 | 2018 Block of the Month, Evening Meeting, Events

The June evening meeting is:

Thursday, June 7 from 6 pm – 8:30 pm

Alfalfa’s Market
785 E South Boulder Rd
Louisville, CO 80027

Social hour begins at 6 pm and the program runs from 7 – 8:30 pm. Our June program will be Designing with Precuts, presented by Claudia. She will walk us through how to best use those jelly rolls, layer cakes, and charm packs. Come enjoy an informative presentation about modern quilting using precuts.

If you are interested in helping with the 2019 Quiltcon charity quilt, there will be a design meeting during the social hour, 6pm. Please review the theme and colors on the MQG website and come prepared with any design ideas you may have!

OTHER ANNOUNCEMENTS

The July 5 evening meeting is our annual Christmas in July. This year we will be having an ice cream social and a small gift swap. Please make and bring a gift to trade. You can find ideas for small projects on our Pinterest board. Anyone is welcome to attend the meeting for the ice cream social without a gift in hand.

A huge thank you to everyone who made a block for Katie L’s baby quilt. And thank you to those who volunteered time for quilting and binding. It turned out great and we are so excited that one of our members will soon be welcoming a new addition to her family. Congrats, Katie!

We’re almost halfway through our block of the month and you are all still chugging along. It’s wonderful to see how each person interprets the blocks and comes up with unique fabric combinations. If you haven’t made it yet, you can get the May tutorial here. And our June tutorial is already up on the blog too!

Use the hashtag #bouldermqgbom18 and tag us @bouldermqg when posting your blocks on Instagram!

The June open sew will be June 17 from 9am-4pm. This month we are offering assistance with your sustainable show quilt. Bring any ideas or sketches, and fabrics you’d like to incorporate and we will help you brainstorm or finalize a plan for your quilt. We’d love for each of our members to submit an entry into our fall show, An Exploration in Sustainable Modern Quilting.
