ANNOUNCEMENTS
Our September 15 open sew has been canceled. We will have a special Community Outreach sew day held at the Sustainable Energy and Environment Community building at CU Boulder, room C215, on September 30. Our goal is to complete backs and quilt sandwiches for the STEAMfest quilts, continue assembling quilt tops, and distribute outreach quilts to member volunteers for quilting. Watch the blog and your email for more information.
Join us for a planning meeting for 2019 on September 20 beginning at 5:30pm, come at any time during the evening, Panera Bread in Boulder. Bring any new ideas for guild activities, presentations, workshops, retreats, community outreach, blog posts, etc… Everyone is welcome to attend.
Have you been keeping up on your block of the month? September’s Greek Cross block is now available on the blog.
Instead of our usual October evening meeting, we will be hosting an Opening Reception for our show, An Exploration in Sustainable Modern Quilting. The full details will be posted soon, the public is welcome!
If you would like to help with show preparations prior to the opening reception, please contact Laura Loewen for more information on the show committee.
SEPTEMBER MEETING RECAP
We began our meeting with a business meeting to discuss increasing dues for 2019. We had a majority of membership cast their vote in person during our September evening meeting and passed both the increase in dues and the associated bylaws changes. Dues increase will take effect for the 2019 membership year. Dues will increase to $50/year to reflect our growing membership and the chapter dues increase by the national guild. Members can view the full bylaws in the Member Section.
It was great to see so many visitors attend our September meeting. Welcome to all, and we hope to see you again in the future!
Anne walked us through several of the many ways to Quilt As You Go, including stitch and flip, row by row, block by block, joining strips, and self binding. She covered in detail great tips to consider when applying QAYG to a project. Her samples gave everyone a hands on look at how each technique could be used for different quilts. Look for her recommended links referencing the different methods on our quilting Pinterest board. Members can download the full presentation in the Member Section.
