2021 Quilt Along Introduction

We know many people are struggling with connection in the last year, so we decided to to host a quilt along using Heather Black’s Sparrow block. You will need to log in as an MQG member to access the pattern here.

We will be using the MQG block study as a way to play with color and negative space. You can either make the presented quilt option or you can play and choose one of the alternate layouts, adding negative space to your quilt. This is a great skill builder for someone who has always wanted to practice changing a pattern layout.

This pattern uses traditional machine piecing with curves and triangles. The number of blocks you need to make will vary based on the layout chosen and the amount of negative space you add to your quilt. The SAL is based on 42 blocks for the rainbow quilt pattern provided in the tutorial. It should be interesting how many different layouts our guild members will decide to make!
