AUGUST MEETING RECAP
We kicked off our August meeting with a brief business meeting followed by show and tell.
Missy showed off some amazing pattern matching practice, Julie had a gorgeous mini where she was testing quilting styles, and Kim showed off her beautiful and meaningful sustainable quilt show entry (This is only a sneak peek!)
We were happy to see all of our members and guest excited and ready to learn about big stitch quilting.
Rebecca and Laura L proceeded to go through the big stitch quilting process step by step on how to prepare and baste a quilt for hand quilting, types of quilting designs you can select, and how to choose a thread, needle, and thimble.
There will be detailed blog posts on perle 8 thread, embroidery needles for big stitch quilting, and thimble varieties coming soon. Members were given samples of thread and needles to test stitches on swatches of quilt sandwiches. Members can get the presentation documents in the Member Area. Everyone had a great time learning this technique!
We also had some great giveaways from Clover and Sulky, the lucky winners got some amazing items that are great for hand quilting!
Join us for Open Sew on August 19. RSVP so you are guaranteed a spot for your sewing machine!
