Community Outreach Quilt Donation – Boulder Police Department Victim Services Unit

Feb 19, 2018 | Community Outreach, Guild News

The Boulder MQG Community Outreach committee is responsible for donating the quilts that are created by members to benefit local organizations.

On Friday, February 9,  Community Outreach donated 8 quilts to the Boulder Police Department Victim Services Unit.  The Victim Services Unit is staffed by dedicated and trained employees and 55 volunteers that immediately respond when contacted.  After a horrible or tragic event a person may be in shock and feel numb and confused.  This is where the Victim Services Unit comes into play.

Advocates are dispatched to the scene of a crime, accident, or a victim’s home to assist during the initial trauma. The advocates provide crisis intervention, emotional support, resources, referrals and follow up.  There are times when a quilt is the perfect item to share with the victim, or family of a victim, giving them a sense of comfort and warmth.

The Victim Services Unit was grateful to receive the quilts and appreciative of our donations. Thank you to all of the guild members who worked hard on these quilts to make this donation possible and especially to Barb and Monique for making the donation possible.
